Toronto Arts Foundation’s Resiliency Fund was created in March 2022 to help Toronto artists emerge from the pandemic. With an estimated loss of 60% of revenues for performing arts within the first year of the pandemic, leading to cancelled contracts for thousands of artists and arts workers, the first round of funds was directed to the performing arts sector in May. In October, the second round was directed to community-engaged arts organizations. As we continue to raise funds we open up this opportunity to artists in other disciplines.
ROUND 1
Thanks to significant donations from The Hal Jackman Foundation and The Slaight Family Foundation, in May 2022 we distributed $2 million to 118 charitable performing arts organizations committed to paying fees to Toronto artists and arts workers. This crucial support will help these organizations pay artists, regardless of any future unforeseen pandemic interruptions.

Testimonials:
"The Resiliency Fund is super helpful in these tricky times, and the simple application process really saves us time and energy." - Modern Times Stage Company, Resiliency Fund recipient
"As a funding recipient, we are extremely grateful for your support during these challenging and unpredictable times. This gift will provide greater stability for the Company and enable us to continue investing in our incredible dancers and artists." - Canada’s Ballet Jorgen, Resiliency Fund recipient
"We want to thank you so much for your continued support, commitment, and dedication to seeing the arts thrive. Your support is allowing Why Not to continue to look forward and envision a future where art plays a vital role in all of our lives." - Why Not Theatre, Resiliency Fund recipient
"In 2022 we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the TD Toronto Jazz Festival - an outstanding opportunity to fete the history and legacy of the Festival. But as we emerge from an incredibly challenging two years, during which so many in the music industry saw their livelihoods decimated, we are also focussing 35th anniversary celebrations on getting local and Canadian musicians and crews back to work. We’re on track to book over 800 local musicians this year which, when combined with our 100% local crew and staff, represents an investment of nearly half a million dollars into the local music industry – an investment made possible, in part, by your support, via the Resiliency Fund." - TD Toronto Jazz Festival.
