The Mayor's Evening for the Arts

On December 8, more than 400 people, together with Mayor John Tory, attended the Mayor’s Evening for the Arts, our annual fundraising event. Reimagined as a virtual gathering, the event successfully raised more than $730,000. Funds raised through this event will support the Arts in the Parks initiative, entering its sixth year of bringing community together through arts in parks across the city. Donations will also help us support our much-needed COVID-19 Response Initiatives, which offer funding, webinars, mentorship opportunities and crucial research to the city’s arts community.

“I don’t think that many of us realize how much of the arts we miss until they are gone, like what's happening right now as many venues are temporarily closed due to COVID-19," said Mayor John Tory, while speaking virtually to the gathering. "Toronto Arts Foundation really came through. At the beginning of the pandemic, Toronto Arts Foundation found a way to redeploy funds and fundraise to the tune of almost a million dollars to support artists.”

With the generous donations of our patrons and the encouragement provided by the Mayor, we look forward to playing our part in supporting, nourishing and celebrating arts in Toronto. Thank you to all our sponsors, table and ticket buyers who made Mayor’s Evening for the Arts a resounding success.
