The Description-Rich Story Hour At the Description-Rich Story Hour, artists will tell original stories inspired by the land and public artwork of Lee Lifeson Art Park, using descriptive and inclusive language that is accessible to a Blind and partially sighted audience. Wherever we are, we’re connecting to land that has a story. Description-rich language and ASL interpretation will make this storytelling event accessible to all.1:15 pm – Park & Artwork Orientation Including a tactile map of the park and 3d printed representations of the artwork. Sighted guides will be available to assist as needed. Through a sonic experience of space, we become more aware of our surroundings in historical, political, and contemporary social landscapes.”The Description-Rich Story Hour and podcast celebrates the land and artworks of this mid-town Toronto park by engaging the senses in a surprising and delightful exploration of this part of our city.

Art on My Mind 2026 × JFC Community Archive Exhibit: 50 Years in Jane Finch You are invited to the official launch of Jane/Finch Centre’s community archive exhibit followed by The Goldfarb Gallery’s Art on My Mind 2026 musical showcase on July 29th from 4 – 8 pm. Performances start at 6 pm! Taking place at Corner Commons, in the Yorkgate Mall parking lot, the showcase is a culmination of the Art on My Mind 2026: Live Performance Incubator. Facilitated by R&B Singer and songwriter Kibra, this incubator is a two month long artistic development program involving four emerging singers who received mentorship and live performance coaching ultimately preparing them to perform in public with a live band. This celebratory event includes performances by headliners Kibra and Jayy Brown followed by performance incubator participants Yasmine Ariel, Jordi, Rada and Rith. Kibra and the emerging artists will all be accompanied by band members Adriel Bennett, Daniel Espina, Rachel Smith and D’Andre Wilson. The showcase will provide a platform to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that each emerging artist gained through this individualized musical development program. Art on My Mind 2026 is presented in conjunction with the Jane Finch Centre’s 50th Anniversary celebration marking five decades of community-led organizing, resident-driven programming and advocacy in Toronto’s Jane-Finch and Black Creek neighbourhoods. “For 50 years, the Jane/Finch Centre has been led by residents who have consistently shaped the direction of both the organization and the broader community,” says Michelle Dagnino, executive director of the centre. “This milestone is not only about our history, but about celebrating a community that continues to build local solutions to complex systemic challenges.” Founded by residents and grounded in community leadership, the Jane/Finch Centre has grown alongside the neighbourhood it serves, supporting generations of children, and families through programs focused on employment, settlement, youth engagement, financial empowerment and community development. The Art on My Mind 2026 Showcase and Live Performance Incubator is generously supported by the Toronto Arts Council, the Toronto Arts Foundation and Arts in the Parks Toronto. Migration Celebration Migration Celebration uses theatre arts to honor the vital role of birds, butterflies, and animals in our ecosystems and daily lives. Shadowland artists will be in residence at RV Burgess Park for three days, culminating in a community parade during the Friday Bazaar. Join Shadowland’s arts programming for all ages, where you can create costumes and puppets, learn music and songs, share stories, experience Indigenous teachings and go on nature walks. Cameroonian musician Njacko Backo will collaborate with Shadowland’s Chris Wilson and Jim Bish to lead music workshops and provide parade tunes. Alan Colley will offer Medicine Wheel teachings and guide walks to explore the creatures and natural medicines found in the park. All these activities will culminate in a spectacular parade, where everyone is invited to tour the park in a joyous and colorful celebration of birds, butterflies, and animals.
