The Description-Rich Story Hour At the Description-Rich Story Hour, artists will tell original stories inspired by the land and public artwork of Lee Lifeson Art Park, using descriptive and inclusive language that is accessible to a Blind and partially sighted audience.Storytellers include the three members of Described Toronto arts collective: Christine Malec, Rebecca Singh, and Katherine Sanders. They will be joined by Indigenous storyteller Trina Moyan and other artists in the amphitheatre at Lee Lifeson Art Park. Along with a presentation of original stories, participants will be invited to experience a touch tour of the public artworks, and 3D tactile models of the park.The Story Hour will be recorded live and released on the Described Toronto podcast. The series will also include audio description of the park and artworks, including the interactive piece “120 Mirrors” by artist Anna Friz. The artist describes this work as “a series of horn shaped sculptures that each play with a different aspect of human communication, specifically the acts of listening, speaking, conversing, and reflection. Through a sonic experience of space, we become more aware of our surroundings in historical, political, and contemporary social landscapes.”The Description-Rich Story Hour and podcast celebrates the land and artworks of this mid-town Toronto park by engaging the senses in a surprising and delightful exploration of this part of our city.
Park In Motion 🌳 Park in Motion is a family-friendly outdoor dance performance series by MillO Dance Projects.Through performances and interactive activities, Park In Motion aims to celebrate diversity and foster a vibrant and inclusive space to connect with and bring together the community. 🌳This year, we are showcasing two 15-minute contemporary dance works: Colours, choreographed and performed by MillO Dance Projects, and To My Past…, choreographed and performed by Nickeshia Garrick. Themes of home, connection, and self-discovery flow through contemporary dance, improvisation, and vocal work.
