Join Artist Alexandra Iorgu, and Natural Knowledge Keeper Alan Colley at Summerlea Park for two community workshops that bring together art, story, and spirit. Connected with the Land is a reminder of our deep connection to the Land and to one another, a weaving of relationships that traces back to the beginning of Creation.

Summerlea Park will become a gathering place for teaching circles, hands-on art-making, and nature walks. Participants of all ages will contribute to the creation of a collective sculpture using clay and natural materials. Symbolizing our interconnectedness, each layer of this ephemeral installation will represent the surrounding nature: local plants, sculpted animals, and birds.  At the heart of the installation, children, youth, and elders will be invited to leave their own handprint, a symbol of our own journey on this Land, and an opportunity to give thanks to the animals, plants, water and earth that supports us. 

This free, all-ages event requires no prior art experience and no registration. Let’s come connect, create, and walk the spiral with us.

Location: Summerlea Park, 450 Albion Rd, Etobicoke, ON M9W 2J1

All materials and light refreshments will be provided. We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for outdoor movement.
