Nominations open for two Awards

We're currently accepting nominations for our Community Arts Award and Indigenous Artist Award

TORONTO, June 1, 2022 - Nominations are currently open for two Toronto Arts Foundation Awards: The Community Arts Award and the Indigenous Artist Award

The Community Arts Award is a $10,000 cash prize, with finalists receiving $1,000. The award celebrates an individual artist or organization that has made a significant contribution in Toronto, by working collaboratively with culturally diverse communities and creating access to arts and culture. Established in 2013 as the Diversity Award, the award was re-named the Community Arts Award in 2018. In 2022, the award will be presented to an organization or collective. The Community Arts Award is administered by our Neighbourhood Arts Network.

The Indigenous Artist Award is a $20,000 cash prize, with a professional artist mentor/Elder or mentee/protégée designated by the Award Recipient receiving $5,000, and finalists receiving $2,000. The award recognizes an Indigenous professional artist or artist collective working in traditional or contemporary practices and who have contributed significantly to arts and culture in Toronto and have demonstrated an ongoing association with Toronto. In addition to the prize money, the 2022 recipient will receive a complimentary week long stay at Valleyview Artist Retreat.

Nominating an artist, collective or organization is easy, and offers a vote of confidence for those who are doing great work through the arts! Both awards accept self-nominations.
