Arts In The Parks Event

Neilson Park Creative Festival

On July 11, 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., celebrate creativity, community, and summer at the Neilson Park Creative Festival, a vibrant day of art and music set in the beautiful surroundings of Neilson Park. Hosted by Neilson Park Creative Centre in partnership with Toronto Pearson International Airport and Great Lakes Brewery, the festival invites visitors of all ages to explore, discover, and participate in the arts.

Throughout the day, the park will come alive with a bustling outdoor marketplace featuring artists and artisans selling their handmade work. Visitors can browse a wide range of creative pieces including paintings, drawings, quilts, rug hooking, calligraphy, woven textiles, jewellery, stained glass, pottery, soaps, toys, and more. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet local makers and find unique items crafted with skill and care.

Live music will fill the air with performances throughout the afternoon, beginning with The Music Studio’s Jazz and Rock Bands and continuing with special guest artists Lydia Persaud at 2:30 p.m. and Shanty Sweets at 3:45 p.m., creating a relaxed and festive atmosphere in the park.

A highlight of the day is the Plein-Air Painting Competition, where artists paint outdoors across the park, capturing the landscape and festival energy in real time. Visitors are welcome to watch the artists at work, with the finished paintings presented in an exhibition and awards ceremony later in the afternoon.

Inside the Centre, guests can also explore the 33rd annual IMPACT Juried Exhibition, one of NPCC’s most anticipated shows, showcasing exceptional contemporary and traditional artwork by artists working in a variety of media.

Families are warmly welcomed, with free hands-on art activities for children throughout the day and demonstrations by NPCC’s Resident Groups, offering a behind-the-scenes look at a wide range of creative practices.

Rain or shine, the Neilson Park Creative Festival is a free gathering that brings together artists, performers, and the community to celebrate creativity in all its forms.
