Toronto Arts Foundation And TELUS Are Looking For The City's Best Newcomer Artists

Nominations are now open for Toronto Arts Foundation’s TELUS Newcomer Artist Award, a $10,000 cash prize designed to celebrate a professional newcomer artist living in the City of Toronto who is making a positive impact in their community.

TORONTO, July 7, 2014 – Nominations are now open for Toronto Arts Foundation’s TELUS Newcomer Artist Award, a $10,000 cash prize designed to celebrate a professional newcomer artist living in the City of Toronto who is making a positive impact in their community. This two (2) year Vision Award Sponsorship with TELUS will be administered by Neighbourhood Arts Network, an initiative of the Foundation’s Creative City: Block by Block vision to connect every Toronto neighbourhood with the transformative social and economic benefits of the arts.

Toronto Arts Foundation is delighted to welcome back TELUS as the naming sponsor for the TELUS Newcomer Artist Award. As part of their commitment to strengthening the arts in Toronto, TELUS will donate $30,000 to the Foundation, an investment that will help develop new partnerships with settlement organizations, expand the reach of the Newcomer Award throughout the city and facilitate the creation of two new Neighbourhood Arts Network Social Clubs hosted at TELUS House, designed to provide newcomer artists with networking and professional development opportunities.

Nominations run from June 11 to July 13, 2014, with applications available online atwww.neighbourhoodartsnetwork.org. Applicants can nominate themselves or be nominated by others, and all applications will be assessed by a multidisciplinary jury selected by the Neighbourhood Arts Network and Toronto Arts Foundation.
