Nominate an outstanding emerging jazz artist

Nominations are now open for the 2018 Toronto Arts Foundation Emerging Jazz Artist Award.

TORONTO, December 12, 2017 – Nominations are now open for the 2018 Toronto Arts Foundation Emerging Jazz Artist Award. The Award furthers the career of an outstanding emerging jazz artist and is intended to support the pre-production, production and/or recording of original music composed by the recipient. The Award is a $10,000 cash prize. Finalists receive $1,000.

The Emerging Jazz Artist Award was established in 2014 through the generous donation of Cheryl and Manuel Buchwald, and has since been awarded to outstanding emerging jazz artists who are contributing significantly to arts and culture in Toronto. Past recipients include:

2017: Larnell Lewis, drummer, composer, producer, educator and clinician
2016: Amanda Tosoff, pianist and composer
2015: Justin Gray, bassist, composer and producer
2014: Chelsea McBride, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer and band leader

As a creative person you have a lot of dreams of things you would like to do, and finances often stop them. I often dream and dream big. An award like this makes those dreams possible.
