Extraordinary Artists Honoured with Toronto Arts Foundation Awards
At an inspiring event, Mayor John Tory joined a broad cross section of Toronto in paying tribute to remarkable people. The Toronto Arts Foundation Awards were presented at the 11th Annual Mayor’s Arts lunch, held at the Arcadian Court.
And the winners are:
The William Kilbourn Award for the Celebration of Toronto’s Cultural Life:
David Buchbinder, Musician/Composer
The Roy Thomson Hall Award of Recognition:
Ritesh Das, Musician
Arts for Youth Award:
Young People’s Theatre
Emerging Artist Award:
Benjamin Kamino, Dancer, Curator
Toronto Arts and Business Award:
BridgeWater Family Wealth Services
Winners were each presented with a commemorative plate designed by internationally renowned Toronto artist Stephen Andrews.
“These artists and organizations have given so much to enrich the lives of Toronto. It was an honour to pay tribute to them and inspiring to see so many people from across the city cheering them at the Mayor’s Arts Lunch,” said Toronto Arts Foundation CEO Claire Hopkinson. “It was a challenge to choose from such a talented, passionate group of nominees. We are all winners thanks to their work.”
